LuciLusu 3mg is a brand formulation containing Lusutrombopag, a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist. It is primarily used to treat low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) in adults with chronic liver disease (CLD) scheduled to undergo a medical or dental procedure. Lusutrombopag helps increase platelet production, reducing the need for platelet transfusions and lowering the risk of bleeding during or after procedures

What is LuciLusu 3mg (Lusutrombopag)?

LuciLusu 3mg contains the small-molecule drug lusutrombopag, which is taken orally. It is intended to replicate the actions of thrombopoietin, the endogenous hormone that promotes bone marrow platelet formation. Patients with chronic liver illness, where thrombocytopenia is a common and major problem, benefit most from it.

How it Works / Mechanism of Action

Lusutrombopag works as a TPO receptor agonist, selectively binding to and activating the human thrombopoietin receptor (c-Mpl) on the surface of megakaryocyte progenitor cells in the bone marrow. Megakaryocyte maturation and output are improved by this stimulation, which raises platelet production.

Unlike recombinant thrombopoietin proteins, Lusutrombopag is a non-peptide molecule and does not cause the development of neutralizing antibodies, making it a safer long-term option in specific patient groups.

How to Use / Indications

Indication:

LuciLusu 3mg is indicated for adult patients with chronic liver disease who have severe thrombocytopenia and are scheduled to undergo an invasive medical or dental procedure.

It is not meant for long-term use in managing thrombocytopenia but rather for short-term use prior to planned procedures to reduce the risk of bleeding.

How to Take / Dosage

Standard Dosage:

• 3 mg orally once daily for 7 days.

• Treatment should be started 8–13 days before the scheduled procedure.

• The procedure should ideally be scheduled 2–8 days after the last dose.

Important Notes:

• Take the tablet at the same time every day.

• Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew.

• It can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects

Common Side Effects:

Storage

• Store at room temperature (20°C to 25°C).

• Keep in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
